There have been significant changes to the results of aircraft noise recorded by our monitoring stations in October. There was a return to normal for some of them – there was work on one of the runways of the airport this summer. So, in Vieux Saint-Laurent, the station recorded the highest aircraft noise level, 57.5 dBA on average. This statistic does not include ambient noise … We know that the World Health Organisation fixed 55 dB (A) as the maximum level before noise causes major health problems. This threshold aggregates noises of all kinds to which humans are subjected.

What is amazing is that the noise of aircraft registered in Mont-Royal / Est averaged 56.7 dB (A) during the same month. Second overall, it is certainly a first for this area. The Mont-Royal / West station shows, instead, a relative tranquility for October with an average of 45.3 dB (A).

Ahuntsic / West is third with a level of 52.7 dB (A). We can say that in this case, it’s business as usual. This sector is constantly leading the pack … in this air noise pollution race.

Ahuntsic / South, the latest station to have been installed, continues to demonstrate that we were right to take the sound pulse in that sector. Ahuntsic West is warmed with a score of 52 dB (A).

St Laurent / East which headed the classification in September was relegated to fifth place in October. Aircraft noise has been a little less obtrusive in October in Saint-Sulpice, which ranks sixth.
