Montreal, July 17th 2018. The Town of Mount-Royal (TMR) is supporting a fundraising campaign for its citizens affected or concerned by aircraft noise pollution.
This is an opportunity for the citizens of TMR to support the work and efforts of Les Pollués de Montréal-Trudeau (LPDMT), who work to substantially improve the soundscape on the island of Montreal.
“The coming months will result in significant expenses for our legal proceedings. Although there is a Class Action Fund, some essential expenses will not be covered by this Fund, declares Pierre Lachapelle.”
The City Council of TMR unanimously passed a resolution on Monday, July 16th, to authorize a fundraising campaign. For each dollar raised from the citizens of TMR, the City will donate one dollar up to a maximum of $5 000.
The City is also committed to provide citizens with donation boxes. These boxes will be located in municipal buildings openned to the public, in a few weeks.
Citizens can donate directly by using the “Donate Now” button on the lpdmt.org website, taking care to specify their address in TMR. Les Pollués de Montréal-Trudeau are committed to precisely locate the origin of donations, so that the municipal administration is assured of the smooth running of the campaign.
The president of Les Pollués de Montréal-Trudeau, Pierre Lachapelle, present at the meeting of July 16th, warmly thanked Mayor Philippe Roy and the members of the Council for their support. This is the second time that such support is provided by the administration of Mayor Roy. Pierre Lachapelle also extends his thanks to Diane Poulin-Dubois and the members of the Pollués TMR committee, for their involvement in this campaign.
