The Honorable Marlene Jennings becomes the godmother of Les Pollués de Montréal-Trudeau

Member of the Canadian Parliament from 1997 to 2011 and the first black woman from Quebec to be elected to such a position, Marlene Jennings has just agreed to become the godmother of Les Pollués de Montréal-Trudeau.
The former deputy for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce–Lachine will advise Les Pollués in their campaign to bring les Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) and NAV Canada to modify their current operating practices in order to guarantee greater peace and quiet to the residents living under the wide flight corridor of Montreal-Trudeau airport. In the decade since 2000 Madame Jennings was noteworthy in assembling a coalition of Montreal elected officials with the goal of creating legislation to modify aircraft practices. Unfortunately this project was abandoned in the planning stages in 2011.
Main objectives of The Pollués are: apply a real nighttime curfew between 11 PM – 7 AM; raise the altitudes at which planes overfly the city; install noise measuring stations east of Highway 15; obtain independent research on the effects of these flights on the social and physical health of residents.
