The noise of aircraft, the silence of Justin
• “Disappointing”, is the comment of les Pollués de Montréal-Trudeau
Montreal, October 8, 2015 – The citizens’ committee of les Pollués de Montréal-Trudeau deplores the silence of Papineau MP Justin Trudeau on the issue of aircraft noise pollution that affects all areas of his constituency.

“Ever since last winter, we have been asking to meet him, and we tried again a few days ago to have a talk with him about it”, explains Antoine Bécotte, president of les Pollués de Montréal-Trudeau. “Each time, we have not even received an acknowledgment. It is disappointing for us to see him engaged on a variety of topics at the national level, while he has not lifted a finger for three years to try and resolve the problem of low-level aircraft flying over his riding, even though this is an issue entirely within federal jurisdiction. And he did not even deign to meet us to discuss it. ”

Mr. Bécotte notes that 25-30% of M. Trudeau’s constituents live in Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension which largely overlaps the riding of Papineau.
Thomas Mulcair in person received a delegation of seven people (including the mayor of Mont-Royal, Philippe Roy) from the citizens’ committee at his Outremont riding office last April and has been very receptive to this issue. The former leader of the Bloc Québécois, Mario Beaulieu, also met with representatives of les Pollués de Montréal-Trudeau.

“We had a better reception in recent years from MPs Stéphane Dion and Maria Mourani, while in the context of this federal election, Robert Libman (Conservative, Mont-Royal), Mélanie Joly (Liberal, Ahuntsic-Cartierville) and Anthony Housefather (Liberal, Mont-Royal) all eagerly agreed to meet with us”, said Mr. Bécotte.
